At first Ribery was the frontrunner, but then they conveniently extended the voting period so Ronaldo could score a few goals in the playoffs.
Then Messi was the frontrunner, but Ronaldo threatened to boycott the awards ceremony, so they reconsidered.
Then he got the award.
It's official. Cristiano Ronaldo is the Leonardo DiCaprio of football.
