Smoke over Prague
Jan. 22nd, 2013 10:17 pmPuffs of smoke are floating over Prague these days. And not just literally. The 2nd round of the Czech presidential election is due at the end of the week, and there's a clash between two very colorful candidates... two unrepentant smokers, and two diametrically opposite personalities and politicians. The leftist former prime-minister Milos Zeman vs the rightist former foreign minister and heir to aristocrats and princes, Karel Schwarzenberg. It'll be damn heated, so the whole smoke thing might be taken in the figurative sense as well. Seems like the Czech presidential institution which has often been a major cause for headaches for the EU bureaucrats (because of the legendary Euro-thorn-in-the-ass mode of incumbent president Vaclav Klaus), will continue to be an eternal source of curious situations, raised eyebrows and lots of fascinating controversy.
