To fear or not to fear the Big Bear
Oct. 30th, 2014 08:51 pmIt's shopping time in Lappeenranta, a Finnish town next to the Russian border. Most visitors are Russian. They fill their cars to the top with chocolates, kitchen paper, canned food, clothes and all sort of stuff. From the parking at the supermarket in Lappeenranta there's just 27 km to the Russian border. About 4000 Russians pass through that place every day. At least that's how it used to be before the crisis and the sanctions.
